Not even judging if the announcement is right or wrong, or if the person having sent them is competent or not. When did it become ok to do any announcement regarding important or unimportant political decisions on social media?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Next up: announcing scientific breakthroughs via lolcats and presenting business decisions using toddler photos.

This has become the shitshow that keeps on giving.

To be fair, seeing how some/most business decisions are made, toddler pictures seem appropriate.

Particularly those made by a bankruptcy prone real estate developer.

content aside, I dont really get what the problem is with him announcing this on social media. He is getting his message to the most people in the easiest way.

“When did it become ok to do any announcement regarding important or unimportant political decisions on social media?”

When the country elected someone who made it clear before and after the election that he had no intention to treat the office with any sort of dignity, respect, intelligence, or sense of public duty?

Oh come on, what is the purpose of smart phones? So everyone can twit?

If you call someone as a twit , you are insulting them and saying that they are silly or stupid.

Well, for a start, he sort of forgot to tell anyone in the military about the policy change.

Kind of seems like that should have taken priority over the small number of people in the American public who get off on hurting transgender people.

Sure, but using a messaging service that allows you to post news that are limited in length as the primary announcement tool seems like a terrible idea. A TV, radio, or newspaper annoucement would spread just as quick and could be relayed by social media.
Everybody was annoyed by the limits of sms before they were automatically stitched together when the message became too long.

Think of it on a more personal scale. You’d probably be upset if a death in your family were announced by Tweet or your boss firing off tweets to tell you you’re fired and why. That’s how trans service members feel. The President of the United States probably shouldn’t decide to announce some catastrophic news at 140 characters at a time either.

Agreed, content aside, that’s not the place to announce something like that.

yea, the content is the issue, not the delivery. Yea he probably should have mentioned it to them first, but using Twitter still seems like an efficient way of informing the public of his latest stunt.

I’m with you entirely. Twitter is best left to comedians, teen girls, and Arab revolutionaries. I find it a really tacky medium for things like major corporate announcements, official political stuff, or PR releases (they’re okay in addition to a press release, but not in lieu of).

This may change over time, but at the moment it still feels like dumping your girlfriend or quitting your job with text messaging.

Accurate :)
An ex of mine broke up by changing her relationship status. It was kind of insulting

Related, but I’ve seen people change their employment status on LinkedIn to a new company, even before the current company shared the resignation news with the rest of the team.

But that’s not as bad as the time HR released a list of people getting fired or quitting 2 days before it was official. I called up a friend/coworker and was like “Hey, I heard you’re leaving, what’s up?” (and she was getting fired and didn’t know yet). Ugh.

Outch.
When I started my current job, I was in the background for a few weeks, participating in meetings and phone conferences quietly, and never announced, until about 2 days before the guy I replaced was about to take his new job (in the same company) and told them something among the lines of: I’m getting a new job, he will take care of this stuff

i’m not saying anything about what he said, I just think using Twitter seems like a good way to reach the public. What hes saying in those messages is a whole different thing.

Ah, fair enough lol. I agree with that. It certainly seems like a quick and easy way to reach so many people. :)
